Bearing lubrication and motor bearing grease selection

Select bearing grease using speed factor, load, temperature, base-oil viscosity, sealing, and relubrication requirements.

Calculate the operating challenge

Bearing size and speed determine speed factor, while load and temperature determine film demand and grease life. Record actual operating values rather than relying only on machine category.

Balance viscosity and churning

High speed generally needs lower base-oil viscosity to limit heat; slow heavy load needs stronger film. Over-greasing can defeat an otherwise correct product choice.

Control conversion and relubrication

Confirm compatibility with the existing grease, clean or purge when necessary, apply the correct quantity, and adjust interval using temperature, vibration, ultrasound, and inspection.
